This Shiraz was sourced from our Somerset vineyard and handpicked in February 2021. The blocks were planted by the Howard family in the 1960’s on red volcanic clay soil, over a limestone hillside in Pokolbin. Made in traditional methods: cold soaked; fermented wild (10% whole bunch) in open concrete fermenters; hand plunged and aged in neutral French oak. The wine is a vibrant modern Hunter Shiraz with fine tannin and dark fruits. Drink now or any time over the next 10 years.

2021 The Vinden Headcase Semillon

Semillon sourced from our Somerset Vineyard - this block was planted by the Howard family in 1969 over fine clay loam soil, the fruit was hand picked in early February. The juice was fermented on fine solids in tank, a large concrete egg,  neutral oak and given extended lees contact to building complexity and texture. The wine shows the character of the old gnarled vines; refreshing natural acidity, citrus fruit and delicate minerality. Drink anytime over the next 10+ years.

2021 Vinden Wines Chardonnay

This Chardonnay was sourced from our Somerset Vineyard. The blocks were planted by the Howard family in 1973, 1980 & 1987 over red volcanic clay and fine sandy clay loam soil. The fruit was handpicked and basket pressed with the juice transferred directly to large format, tight grain, French & Austrian oak, where the wine underwent fermentation. During the seven-month élevage, bâtonnage was conducted to build complexity. A modern Hunter ‘Chardy’, balancing fruit and minerality, with texture and beautiful lees weight.
