2017 Vinden Wines Reserve Semillon

Sourced from two famous Semillon vineyards. Trevena Vineyard, planted in 1920 on sandy loam soils, these unirrigated vines are situated on Hermitage Road Pokolbin, and Somerset Vineyard in Pokolbin, planted in 1969 on sandy clay loam. Picked in early February, the wine shows the character of the old gnarled vines; concentrated citrus fruit, refreshing acidity and delicate minerality. Great early drinking, however patience will be rewarded with cellaring up to 10+ years.

2021 Experimental Release Chenin Blanc

This particular label was illustrated by Mancunian artist, Stan Chow (@stan_chow), as a wedding gift from my wife Hannah. It plays homage to the photography project I started last year during lockdown, whereby each year I’ll take a self portrait post harvest to represent that respective vintage.

.

Chenin Blanc sourced from our Somerset Vineyard. This block was planted by the Howard family in 2007 on fine clay loam soil. The fruit was handpicked, de-stemmed, then fermented on skins for a week before being pressed off into Spanish clay amphorae and neutral French oak for secondary fermentation, before being blended.

2021 Experimental Release Pokolbin Blanc

Pokolbin Blanc is a blend of multiple varieties, with some fermented on skins, some in stainless steel, Spanish clay amphora and some in neutral French oak to build complexity, weight and texture. I wonder if you can guess what they are?! This funky little number is light, fun and delicious.

Planted on fine clay loam soil by the Howard family in 1969 and grafted to Chenin Blanc in 2007. The fruit was handpicked and whole bunch pressed before the juice was transferred directly to large format 3 year old French oak, where the wine underwent barrel fermentation. During the 7 month èlevage, bâtonnage was conducted to build a creamy texture to support the fruit and subtle oak spice. A beautiful mineral expression of Chenin Blanc. Easily one of the best wines I have ever made.
